Witness the world’s largest rodent, Capybara and learn about their physical attributes and characteristics during the Capybara Encounter with your Wellington Zoo tickets. You can come in close contact with the capybaras and see their features like big front teeth and partially webbed feet. A zookeeper will accompany you during the encounter to answer your questions about the capybaras and take a picture of you in the Capybara habitat. This experience lasts for 30 minutes and is available for kids above 6 years.

The Red Panda Encounter is a thrilling experience during which the red pandas will clamber all over you for tasty delicacies. While you wait for them with a bowl of fruits and vegetables, they will come down from the trees and climb on you to grab them. During the encounter, you can admire the thick red fur of the pandas and learn about their life in the wild from the zookeeper. You can also take a picture of you with a red panda on your lap.

Get up close with Sasa, the sun bear with your Wellington Zoo tickets and observe her intelligence during the Sun Bear Encounter. It is an open-air experience in which you will be taken by the zookeeper to learn about how the zoo team trains and cares for Sasa. You can see the sun markings, sharp claws and long tongue of the sun bear and even feed her. The Sun Bear encounter is available only for kids aged 14 years and above.

Enjoy a warm welcome from the meerkats during the Meerkat Close Encounter experience at the Wellington Zoo. You can see these cheerful animals roaming around in their habitat happily while you feed them with special treats. You can learn about the meerkats, observe their features and snap photos with them for a memorable experience at the zoo. Children above 6 years of age are allowed to take part in the Meerkat Encounter experience.

The Zoo Wellington tickets let you come in close contact with the two male black and white ruffed lemurs at the zoo. The Lemur Encounter is a guided experience in which the zookeeper will introduce you to the lemurs, explain why they have become endangered species and take pictures of you with this exotic species. You can touch the softest furs of the animals and marvel at their shining black and white coats as they feed on grapes from your hand.

Take a walk through the Giraffe House and watch how the majestic giraffes in the zoo are cared for in their Savannah habitat with your Zoo Wellington tickets. Wellington Zoo has two black-and-white ruffed lemurs, Kamory and Ankari, who live together peacefully. Native to Madagascar in East Africa, the lemurs are expert climbers who enjoy being up high and hanging upside down. The black-and-white ruffed lemurs use different vocal sounds to communicate with each other like an alert call or dominance display.

Witness and learn about African Cheetahs, Cango and Kunjuka, with the Wellington Zoo tickets at the Wellington Zoo. The cheetahs have leaner bodies, long and heavy tails to help with turning, and non-retractable claws. Their main feature is their ability to run at an incredible speed of 100kph in 3 seconds.

Visit the white-cheeked gibbons, Robyn and Vilson with the Wellington Zoo tickets and listen to their early-morning singing. Gibbons, commonly found in the forests of Laos, Vietnam, and southern China, are presently endangered species due to habitat loss. They are arboreal and spend most of their time hanging from and jumping between trees.

The duo, Clementine and Ronaldo are the Golden Lion Tamarin residents of the Wellington Zoo. Flaunting their reddish gold manes, these golden lion tamarins feed on oranges, carrots, eggs and meat to maintain their golden colour. They are originally endangered species that call Brazil’s Atlantic forest their home.

Wellington Zoo houses four Eastern Grey Kangaroos in the Neighbours exhibit zone which is a walk-through Australian zone. These Australian Kangaroos are famous for their hopping speed which records up to 60 kph. You can find them jumping on the trampoline or snoozing in the shade of the trees.
